AN EMBLEMATIC PLACE FOR WALKING AND RECREATION
Right next to the beach, where the hustle and bustle of the streets and shops gives way to the sound and smell of the waves, you’ll find s the city's best-kept treasure: the Manuel Puigvert promenade. It is the preferred recreational space for the locals and one of the most charming places in Calella, bordered by large centennial plane trees that flood with green and ochre the seacoast landscape.
Designed in the late 19th century, the Manuel Puigvert promenade was named after the mayor who made it possible and is part of the inventory of the Architectural Heritage of Catalonia. Quiet and harmonious, the promenade runs parallel to the beach, looking out to sea, elegantly, through Jeroni Martorell's modernist railing. A captivating style that is still preserved today and that everyone falls in love with alike.
For couples who want to take a romantic and quiet sunset stroll, for families with children looking for outdoor fun on summer evenings, for fans of cultural events... the Manuel Puigvert promenade is the preferred place for locals and visitors, throughout the year.
Winter walks have a special charm, when the bare trees change our walks into shades of grays and blues. The row of plane trees accompany us along the avenue and draw us a relaxing landscape, ideal for a stroll or to work out. For the most curious, every Sunday morning the walk becomes a meeting point for all lovers of antiques and collecting.
When spring comes, the beauty of the trees shines more than ever and the smell of nature fills the air everywhere. The children play, the elders chat and the terraces are filled with people. There are also music, sardanas and rock and roll gatherings! An explosion of energy and colors that soften with the heat, when life slows down… Then it’s time to enjoy summer afternoons under the shade of the centuries-old plane trees on the promenade. In the summer nights, the promenade becomes an outdoor stage featuring open-air celebrations and music concerts, with a special atmosphere under the moonlight and by the sea.
The charm of the walk intensifies with autumn, when we enjoy the traditional walks among the yellow and brown leaves. At the end of September, the Manuel Puigvert promenade becomes the privileged setting for the Fair of Calella and Alt Maresme, the great cultural and commercial event of the region. In the same dynamic spirit, the Ironman Barcelona takes its turn, filling the promenade with triathletes from around the world. Children and adults, we all enjoy this non-stop rhythm so typical of our city. And we find in this privileged seawalk, a little paradise in Calella!
