The first cold weather invites you to wrap up warm and walk around the city. The smell of burning wood from the fireplaces, the first balconies adorned with enchanting lights... The soft aromas of soups, stews, honey and rosemary fill the streets of this vibrant city, and little by little, everywhere we can breathe the Christmas spirit. December comes and Christmas is already here!
The city of Calella, rich in tradition and culture, is prepared to shine out and welcome the warmth of Christmas. It all begins with the lighting of the city Christmas lights. Luminous arches and magical colours splendidly deck out the streets and buildings for the festive season. The enchanting store windows are a sight to behold and invite us to stop and look at every detail: craft decorations, toys, sweets, cold meat, wines, nougat... The town centre is the ideal place for shopping, with hundreds of stores of all kinds and for all ages. There are also live music performances and children's favourite cartoon characters walking through the Calella main commercial street. Don’t miss the chance to take a picture with Santa Mickey!
On the afternoon of 23 December, here comes a very long-awaited moment for the children... the great tió! It's a popular Catalan Christmas children’s activity consisting of hitting the Tió de Nadal (a wooden trunk) with a cane, and then waiting for sweets and little gifts. Not forgetting the most magical night of the year, with the arrival of the Three Kings!
