Calella has participated again in the Sneak Preview, organized annually Netherlands tour operator Solmar Tours.
During this weekend, Calella was present at the Sneak Preview fair in Eindhoven (the Netherlands), a promotional initiative for the Dutch market organized by the operator Solmar Tours.
It is a final public fair and last year it received close to of 6,000 visitors, among which Calella was promoted as a destination for Family and Sports Tourism. In addition to Calella, this fair also includes the tourism offices of Lloret de Mar, Cambrils and Salou, as well as various groups and companies in the hotel sector.
The Dutch tourism in Calella
In 2016, the Netherlands market experienced an increase of around 17% in the number of overnight stays (85,325) compared to 2015 (72,976). This upward trend is having continuity so far this season. Between the months of May and July 2016 tourists from the Netherlands totalled 37,039 overnight stays, while in the same period of 2017 this figure is 46,603 (+9,563).
Regarding the general characteristics of the Dutch market, Catalonia and the Balearic Islands are the preferred destinations within the Spanish state. According to data from the Catalan Tourism Agency, the degree of intermediation is significant, since 75% of reservations are made through tour operators (23%) or other tourism companies (52%). In relation to the favourite products of the Dutch when traveling to Catalonia, highlight the sun and beach destination (51%) and city trips (31%).

Although visits to the web from the Netherlands only represent 1.14% of total visits, these have grown by 23.24% during 2017, compared to the relevant data of the previous year.
